Study Abroad Opportunities At Surrey Uni

sooo i have been researching study abroad options for university of surrey for the course biological sciences bsc hons (3 yr). im confused as there are only exchange opportunities for FHMS partner laboratories, and not a proper student exchange programme (semester abroad or yr abroad). how does that work? is it during the summer for a couple of weeks where you gain laboratory experience and do a project or something? i would really like to know. thanks!
Hi @sz272727,

Unfortunately, there is not a study abroad option available for biological sciences bsc hons (3 yr).
The exchange opportunities you referred to, also known as FHMS partner laboratories, refers to the placement opportunities available abroad exclusively for Surrey Students in our partner institutions. This occurs between 2nd and 3rd year and is a fantastic opportunity to gain work experience as well as stand out in the future job market! These opportunities usually involve completing a year-long research project in a laboratory. It would be best to hear from the students who have done this themselves; read more about their experiences here here.

It’s highly recommended and you can go to a wide variety of places around the world. Some of my friends who have gone already have generally enjoyed their experience.

If you find that a year abroad is too long, then you are more than welcome to take part in the amazing summer programme opportunities available to go abroad. Please refer to this page for more information.

I hope that helps and if you’d like to explore further, please take a look here.

Kind Regards,
