how to get out of reading slump

I haven't read a book in ages and I did love too. However I'm such a slow reader, it takes me ages to read a page and if I don't understand it, I just have to keep rereading it. It annoys me so much and I haven't seen anyone talk about how frustrating it is. My friends told me that when they don't understand a page, they just keep on reading and hope that the puzzle just solves itself. But I do try to do it but my mind keeps screaming to go back and reading just because something stressful and intense. The books won't be confusing either, I'm just a slow processor but its just frustrating having to read the same page over and over again. This makes me take ages to finish a book. Not only that but my house is loud so it just interrupts my thoughts, I did try listening to music but again, I had to keep repeating pages bc I just couldn't understand what was on the page.

I love the idea of reading but the whole thing just feels me with dread the moment i try to sit down with a book. any advice or tips?

Hi, maybe try rereading a book you liked previously; it definitely helps. Maybe try reading a 'bingeable' book, basically a genre you really like with a well-known author, for me it would probably be YA murder mysteries/thrillers. This is what I usually do when I get stuck in a slump, but you might end up in a slump right after.
I would say reading something that is quite easy or something that has been recommended in the past, but it can’t be really hard to get out of reading slump i was in one for quite awhile and then I read Paloma faiths new book and it got me out of it as it was just rlly relatable and enjoyable. What sorts of books hv u liked before im sure we could give u some recs. Even if their was a movie or tv show u rlly enjoyed recently mabye u could see if their was a book adaption

bookgirlie here.
I've read such books in which I had to reread the page again again and again especially with historical fiction and have been in and out of reading slumps, so my advice to you would be finding your genre. that is literally so important. try something less intense, maybe a sweet romance if you like that, e.g 'better than movies' kind of books. these will help you to take off at first.
if you don't enjoy that try something more thrilling, so you get hooked, maybe murder mysteries or just adventure stuff. I'd recommend checking out holly Jackson or Jennifer Lynn Barnes maybe. I stopped reading historical fiction and fantasy, instead I read more YA mystery books, and my reading speed definitely increased.
also these days our concentration levels have been extremely lowered because of the use of social media and all, so cutting down that a little can help overall.
reading is about enjoying, so just take your time, there ain't no pressure, and check out different genres.

random sidenote but I love your profile picture lol
