Clearing question

I've been thinking about this for a while now im looking to study computer science in University
After finishing my extended diploma In IT, I am very happy with my predicted grade of DMM/DDM. As it is higher than my offer for my firm choice of MMM but they also want a C/4 in maths. Which I am less confident about and I am worried on what will happen if I don't get the 4 in maths. Will i have to go through clearing or do you think I can appeal it and talk with the university

I think without a C in maths you’d prolly struggle at uni anyways, so its a strict requirement.

GCSE are usually non-negotiable and Maths is a crucial subject for CS.
Unis will not be interested in 'pleading'.

Hey @Aj2234

Our Computer Science course requires 112 UCAS points and does not require GCSEs, you can look and apply through Clearing here: https://www.bcu.ac.uk/courses/computer-science-bsc-hons-2024-25

Hi there @Aj2234 👋

It's great to hear that your predicted grade for your extended diploma in IT is higher than your offer!

In terms of your GCSE in Maths, have you already received this grade... if so, what did you get? If not, what are you predicted? There should be an opportunity to retake this GCSE if you do not receive the grade that you require, and you can also reach out to the University's admissions team directly to talk through your options. If they are strict with requiring a C/4 in Maths, you may be required to complete a foundation year in Computer Science, but it's best to check with the University on their exact policy.

Hope this helps, and I hope you receive the grades that you are hoping for!

unlikely they usually insist on Maths at higher than a 4. If you are desperate you could try BCU as they are desperate enough to accept students without GCSEs unlike nearly everywhere else
