Tired teacher

I've been working as a primary school teacher for over 3 years and I'm absolutely exhausted! I decided to quit in December and have been doing supply since then which has been better for my mental health but isn't fulfilling/structured enough for me.

Desperate to still work with children in some capacity but have been scrolling on Charity Job to see if I can find any charities working with children/young people/SEND/children's mental health etc. but everything requires years experience in the charity sector, which I don't have.

Feel like I'm starting to go a bit stir crazy and considering just going back to teaching... Wondering if anyone had any advice/has been in this position before? Any tips on ...other job roles? ...where to look? ...short courses I could do for experience?

Thanks

It sound like you have goal in terms of what you want to do and where you want to end up. So why not go a bit further than looking at job adverts and call up some of these charities and ask what they are looking for. And if they are looking for specific qualifications or skills then that is your immediate next step. It may be that you have to go back into teaching to support yourself in the interim but keep your eyes on the prize and you will get there in the end.

The last point is do not discount the skills and knowledge you have gained in those three years. If you are service provider in the charity sector, it is effectively exactly the same job but your employer is a charity rather than a school. I think you underestimate what you have to give!

Good luck!
