Hi, im going to uni in September and am studying child nursing. I’m thinking about joining a sports club so i can keep fit while there. Maybe athletics or football.

You'll absolutely have time. You may occasionally miss something due to shifts, but this is only occasionally rather than all the time. I've played in brass bands for 20 years, including throughout my nursing degree and afterwards (registered nurse working shifts on an inpatient surgical ward) and although I can't make everything at band due to work, I can still do a fair proportion of it. One of the women on my course also played netball regularly alongside full time nursing degree and being a mum of 2 boys both on local football teams; I mentored a student who was on the university netball team and my last student had spent all 3 years of her nursing degree on the university ladies' rugby team. Completely doable. Go for it :-)

Yes, absolutely you will have time to do this! It's so important to take care of your well-being by engaging in activities that you enjoy as a university student. It is also a perfect way to make new friends with similar interests!
During freshers week, you will be able to learn more about these societies/clubs and will be informed of how often you will train etc to get a better idea of how it will fit into your schedule.
