Year 12 gyg for medicine - lets do this!

So I've seen a few gyg's on this website, so of course I had to join in. I think the concept is really smart; you hold yourself accountable to what you do every day and people constantly support and encourage you through your journey. On one hand, I'm really excited to get this sort of proper revision schedule, but on the other hand, I'm really scared that I'll lose this motivation after results day because I'll be disappointed with my grades if they are less than what I hoped to achieve. I hope that regardless of what happens on results day, I'll realise that gcse grades are not the end of the world and continue with my A-levels, but this sense of anticipation is really unnerving.

For context:
- I finished gcses a month ago.
- I will be taking Biology (OCR), Chemistry (AQA) and Maths (Edexcel).

Happy to welcome any other gygs and encouragement ) I'd be happy for any study buddies as well; the more the merrier

Are you starting revision over the summer

Absolutely not. I started this gyg now just as a reminder after I get my GCSE results, so that I don't lose the motivation if my results are not what I expected. Besides, I haven't learnt the content yet, so I don't see how I could start revising for it. I was thinking of starting to learn some of the content for bio a week before school starts, since it has a lot of content, but other than that I hope to just enjoy the summer )

We've been set some transition work by our sixth form (which is yet to be completed ☹️ ) that includes overviews of the content, videos for further exploration etc. I think it aims to just bridge the gap between GCSEs and A-levels, because the amount of studying, from what I've heard, is an immense step up.

Hii, thankyou so much for your help! I did have a few questions about A-levels, since I missed the A-level transition day my school offered, so I hope you don't mind:

1.

When would you recommend starting past papers for practice? If I start past papers too early, I don't understand enough of the content and I really struggle, but starting practice papers late becomes too stressful, and I don't have time for them.

2.

What textbooks/youtube channels/studying websites would you recommend for ocr biology?

3.

Do you think it would be beneficial to get a tutor for A-levels? I was thinking about getting one for maths and chemistry because those subjects are very difficult according to people online, so I don't want to sort of fall behind in class.

Thankyou for taking the time to answer these questions. Hope Year 13 goes smoothly for you and good luck!)

Q2) Miss estruch is okay to some extend I would wartch biorach for biology. Any usual website so pmt, save My exams and revision world, quizlet and anki.

Q3) I havent but it depends How you feel I would hold off until having done Christmas term then Make a decision around that time.

Another yr13 med GYGer tagging along and here to keep you accountable when school comes back around 😂
Any questions lmk, but I don't take any of your exam boards (same subjects though + fm)
And over the summer there's no point prepping for a levels. Just buy some notebooks ready and make sure you're bag is organised when you're back. Mostly just have fun!

In Maths it's not a big step if you've been taught the whole spec.

Have tou seen these? https://www.pearson.com/en-gb/schools/subject-resources/mathematics/unrivalled-support/support-from-pearson/gcse-maths-transition-to-a-level.html
