Was anyone able to gain any work experience related to health care in the summer?? I am having a tough time to find anything like that. Any tips?

Nah same, but if your looking online Medic Mentor and the NHS Cadets r opening some opportunities, and from September check your local NHS trust online for WEX or volunteering opportunities.

There are also year round competitions:

And from autumn Imperial have sm good stuff, best of luck!

I was looking at work experience opportunities at my local hospital, but I think they only start work shadowing in September. Things like St John's Ambulance and NHS cadets have plenty of opportunities as well, and I know someone in my year who did something like that. That being said, is work experience necessary for medicine/do they count as supercurriculars?? I've heard some people on here say they do, and some people say they don't..so I'm not sure

well, manchester uni asks for some relevant work experience to gain insights into how medical fields look like. as medicine is a very challenging course, students should be aware of the effort they need to put in and know what a day looks for a doctor or what kind of things patients would expect you from. though shadowing is not necessary but you can talk a lot about these in the personal statement, they look for hands on work experience in sectors related to care and empathy. so having one from a hospital setting and spme volunteering is what i am aiming for. i know a few who did work experience at a hospital and realised its not something for them, therefore went on to pursue couses such as dentistry and optometry. even though i am 75% sure i want to do medicine, the 25% would be completed by some work experience. i did work experience at a pharmacy, opticians and shadowed a general practitioner in a different country.
I see - so it's not necessary per se but it does allow you to gain relevant insights into medicine that could be useful to talk about in your personal statement. Also, would working in a charity shop count as work experience in a care/empathy related sector? I volunteered as a shop volunteer at my local St Luke's Hospice shop over the summer, but tbh I think I gained more retail work experience as I usually just helped organise clothes, hang up clothes, pricing etc.
Also, as enrollment day is tomorrow, I think it's best I start with some transition work🙂

Here's the schedule for today:

complete chem transition work

complete bio transition work

complete maths transition work

organise stationary + stuff for tomorrow
