I personally loved the Edinburgh Uni student life. You’ll have to put a bit of effort into making your social life good (if you stay in your room the whole time it will definitely suck) - you can do this by getting to know your flatmates/coursemates, joining clubs and societies, and generally saying ‘yes’ to things. It might take a good chunk of first year to find your people, but once you do you should have a good time! Edinburgh is in a beautiful city and there are so many more opportunities for socialising compared to most unis, you just need to take them (they don’t come to you in the same way that they would at a campus uni). It’s a tough uni academically so you should expect to work hard (particularly in honours years), and be wary about hitting burn out (I think this sometimes contributes to people’s poor experience). The uni do have support available (both academically and mental health wise) that is pretty good, but it’s up to you to recognise that you need it and reach out for it yourself (unlike school they are not going to intervene). Hope this helps!
