Eligibility Student Finance

I recently lost my job and I reapplied for SFE with my father as my sponsor. Me and My mother are from Europe but my dad is not. Am I going to be rejected for the tuition and maintenance if I upload my father's financial information. He's the only one in the family that works and I am unsure if the SFE is going to accept my information if I were to get a job before September 2024.

3 Years ago the SFE told me to be a migrant worker you need to an EU passport resident who is employed but both me and my mom are currently unemployed. Is there anything I can do to fix this or will SFE accept my father's financial information?
Hi there,

What nationality are you and how old are your? Do you have pre-settled or settled status and is your dad a UK national? How long have you lived in the UK and when did you move here? Where did you live before moving to the UK?

Thanks, Drew

Hello Drew

I am Belgian and I'm 22. I have pre settled status and my dad is not a UK national, he's from an asian country. We have been living here for the past 4 years and we moved here 4 years ago. We lived in Belgium. (I was able to apply for SFE for the past 3 years)
Hi there,

Did you apply as a Migrant Worker as you were working? Are you on a 4 year course and would this would be your final year or is it a new course that you are applying for? When are you due to get your settled status?

Thanks, Drew

Hello

I was a Migrant worker the last year but now that I lost my part-time job I don't think I'm eligible anymore. I'm on a 4 year course and yes this is my last year. One more year before my settled status.
Hi Zaphir,

If you have pre settled status the only way you would be eligible for a maintenance loan is applying as a Migrant Worker. If you have lost your job you will no longer be eligible for this as the migrant worker needs to be an EU national so you could not apply under your dad. You will need to make a new application for tuition fees only.

Thanks,
Calum

Hello Calum

Thank you for your reply. Will it work out if I get a job within this month and call the SFE to change the application and make myself the sponsor?
Hi Zaphir,

Yes, if you get a job and are working at an acceptable level you can send us evidence of this and we can change your application. You cannot become the sponsor as this is the person who is supporting your application.

Thanks,
Calum

So it wouldn't be a problem if I got the job this month?
Hi Zaphir,

No, this wouldn't be a problem. You need to be working on the first day of the academic year to be eligible for full funding.

Thanks,
Calum

Hello

Sorry to start this discussion again after a long time but the SFE called me and told me that I had to fill in the PFF2 2024 form of my dad to continue. I asked the called 2-3 times if it is valid or if I am eligible for both maintenance and tution if I were to follow what she said. She put me on hold and replied back that it is totally fine because according to her words we have lived here almost 4 years and my dad has a job and I had one a year ago so that's why it should work out is what she said. I asked her to put that down in a mail and send it to me as evidence so that if I were to be in some kind of problem I could refer to that but she refused and told me not to worry as long as I fill that form in for my parents it will go well. Now I did what she told me to but I am still worried, I want to trust her and take her word for it but I have too many suspicions about this so this why I thought I'll reply to this board again with all the aforementioned issues and explain my current situation. So I'd like to ask is what she said and what I did correct?

Kind regards
Zaphir

Hi Zaphir, Did SFE call you to advise of this once they had received your application form? Thanks, Angela

If you've sent the evidence requested (PFF2) then this will allow your application to be processed accordingly. Thanks, Jason
