Can the TMUA negate poor GCSE performance?

I got 7766665554 at GCSE, my school achieved below the UK average for GCSE so this should help my case. I am predicted A*A*A* in maths, further maths and computer science. I am aiming for a 9.0 on the TMUA and want to apply for a maths degree at Cambridge. I believe I am good at my subject and Cambridge worthy, is it worth applying if the only thing bad with my application is my GCSEs?

If you don’t try you will never know, so go for it regardless how high you think you’ll score on the TMUA.
For Cambridge maths it's STEP that matters, not TMUA. Also, I don't mean to be discouraging but a 9.0 on the TMUA is INSANELY difficult (next to impossible) to achieve. I think it's important to set realistic goals. But yeah they can look past your GCSEs.

A 9 in GCSE maths would obviously be more ideal. Yes a 9.0 in TMUA would help your case if Cambridge considered TMUA for their maths degrees. Unfortunately (to the best of my knowledge), they do not. Also a 9.0 is quite tricky to achieve. Only certain colleges have a pre interview assessment and usually it’s literally pre interview.

I know they require 1 1 in STEP but could I still submit my TMUA score to help my application?

Contact the admissions officers to double check. I had 2 friends in the last cycle who took TMUA and applied for Cambridge Maths and I don’t think either were able to submit their scores.

I highly doubt it, most unis don't care about admissions tests other than the ones they explicitly mention. But feel free to check with them.
