Student Maintenance Loans

Hi guys. New here. Basically I dropped out of University some 15-16 years ago due to poor mental health at the time. Now that I seem to be getting on better I would like to get back into education. The only problem is I'm reading that I won't be eligible for student maintenance loans? I've read that it's only for the first degree you study for. Can anyone please advise me on what I should do? I can show for all my illnesses. Thanks.
Just to add that I studied one year of Law LLB and dropped out then studied Software Engineering the following year and dropped out...my life spiralled out of control at that time.
Oh and another question whilst I'm at it....how do we figure out how much UCAS points I have? I have trouble remembering things. I only remember doing English and Religious Studies at A Level and getting a C and D. Then there's subjects like Politics, History, Social Sciences that I didn't do so well in but I can't for the life of me remember my grades or find the certificates.
Hi there,

Can you confirm the name of the course you want to start, what university will you attend and what is the duration of the course? Would the course start in the 2024/25 academic year? You only have 2 years of previous study? We do not have any information on UCAS points.

Thanks, Drew

Leeds Beckett University. Cyber Security and Forensics. Course duration is 3 or 4 years. Have about 74 UCAS points and the course starts in the 2024/2025 academic year.

Yeah studied a few months of Law LLB and then a few months of Software Engineering. Was diagnosed with a mental health condition at the time and my.health deteriorated.
Hi select-banging,

If you have 2 years of previous study and didn't gain a qualification as things stand you would need to self-fund the first year of your new course. If you can provide evidence of Compelling Personal Reasons about why you couldn't progress from a previous course we can take this into account and potentially award an additional year of tuition fee funding.

Thanks,
Calum

So tuition fee would need to be funded for the first year unless I can provide a CPR? I can provide a CPR. Sorry this is just getting a little confusing for me. Will I still get maintenance loan for the duration of the course? Is there any other financial support available for anyone struggling with mental health conditions? I'd appreciate any advice you can give me. Thank you.
Hi select-banging,

Yes, the maintenance loan is not affected by previous study unless you hold a qualification. We don't offer any specific financial support for mental health conditions.

Thanks,
Calum
