Will there be more courses that are put up for Clearing on Results Day, or will it only be the courses that are currently listed on the UCAS website as "with vacancies"? Looking at CS in particular (which I understand is super competitive but taking a look anyway).

Hi, I'd like to apply to Bath's Computer Systems Engineering course on results day, but for some reason, Bath's clearing page on their site is down? Is that supposed to mean anything? Also, on results day, are there likely to be more or less course vacancies available (or will it just be the same amount as on the UCAS page?).

Cheers

The site isn't down. It's working for me. It says that there are currently no vacancies and to check back on Results Day (link here: Bath Clearing).

Additionally, on Results Day, their courses are very very popular so you need to make a phone call as soon as you can.

That being said, this is rather weird because it does say on the UCAS website that the course has vacancies. I'm not entirely sure what's going on but the only thing you can do in this case is to wait until Results Day.

My understanding is that CS at Bath will not in clearing for home applicants at all.

It may be open for international applicants (it was a few days ago).

Its because on the results embargo.

You cannot apply through Clearing now until Results Day and all info like this will be updated on Uni websites on Weds eve or Thurs am.

It might be open for Computer Systems Engineering - but not for Comp Sci as that totally oversubscribed and something like 65% of all applicants got rejected this year.

The clearing page did have vacancies a few days ago, but since we're in the embargo now, nobody really knows what is available until admissions have processed all of the results (likely Wednesday Evening or Thursday morning).

They are working as fast as they can, bless them, but it looks like they're down three selectors... Looks like the full Undergraduate Admissions Team (save one or two + the admissions progressions team) are working this weekend to start the manual processing .

Was just writing it up now!!
Not sure if anyone would be able to answer this, but I’m looking to go into clearing at Bath if I miss my firm offer. I know that places in clearing, especially at a uni like Bath, fill up fast, but how fast exactly do they fill up? The course I would be looking to apply for would be Politics and International Relations or a similar course (although last I checked they didn’t have any course other than P&IR), so not sure if this would be fast to fill or not or highly competitive.

My firm university (Cambridge) have a lengthy results day process if I miss my grades by a small margin, which puts me in the position of wanting to wait long enough to see if I could still get in to Cambridge but not wanting to miss out on any places at Bath for clearing as I am not the biggest fan on my insurance choice.

Also if I were get a place what is the accommodation situation or optionslike for people who get in through clearing?

Not to sound harsh or anything, but Cambridge isn't forgiving if you miss your grades. You will be rejected straight up. You might request a remark, for which you can contact the uni, but if you don't meet the grades, there is no leeway and they will reject you no question.

It happened in a lot of cases at our school last year and there were some extremely talented individuals.

No yeah I totally understand that but my question was actually how fast do clearing spaces fill up at Bath as I was just interested in the competition as I know it’s a really good clearing choice. Thanks

Bath is a popular choice and tends to 'sell out' between 9 and 9:30 on results day.

Firstly congratulations on getting an offer at Cambridge - that’s a brilliant achievement. If you don’t get into your firm choice, and you really want to come to Bath ring them up as soon as you are officially “rejected”. You never know, somebody my be offered a place but never take it up so you might find yourself in the right place at the right time.

That said, my understanding is that places go very quickly at Bath… so perhaps take a gap year and apply formally for 2025 start? It does mean delaying your studies by a year if you got an offer, but perhaps it’s worth it if your desperate to come to bath.

Anyway, good luck with it all and not long to wait for results day 🙂 🙂 🙂

My understanding is it depends on how much you miss your grades. If it’s literally one or two marks you can contact them direct and they may reconsider you and offer a place. Never guaranteed though

They had a bit more in 'early' Clearing. Bath is a very popular choice these days (and rightly so).
