Hi! I'm hoping to go to uni of liverpool this year through clearing, however, I cannot make my application on the UCAS website as it is down until results day. Is it possible to do my application over the phone as I would like to apply ASAP. (I already have my A Level results, I left school last year)

Formal Clearing applications have to be made via UCAS, which is currently not accepting updates, as you say. Right now, universities can't even discuss an applicant’s individual status with them, so can't even make informal / verbal offers. So you'll need to wait until Thursday, I'm afraid. :frown:

Clearing opened on Friday 5th July. UCAS would likely have expected someone who's has their A level results for almost a full year to have applied by now. Hence why they haven't made any allowance for you during the current embargo period.

Thanks for responding. I have since realised that I actually do have an application already completed, I was just confused on how the whole process works and thought that clearing had a seperate application process. So just to clarify, I still can’t ring to get a verbal offer until results day?

This page on the UCAS web site says that during the results embargo periods, "Universities and colleges cannot discuss an applicant’s individual status with them, or with an adviser." I'm not sure that this is an explicit ban on making verbal Clearing offers based upon information which students themselves provide (e.g. existing grades), but many universities interpret it that way.

You can always call them and see what they say. (If you do, please let us know the stance they took.)
has anyone else who got an offer in clearing not had a welcome email/letter from the uni? I had an offer for a different course at liverpool and got all that on results day but after my course change was confirmed on clearing ive not had anything from the uni...
