Hi @Taran52 !

My advice would be to consider what kind of learner you are. For example, if you remember information well when listening to it then you could benefit from using educational videos or podcasts when you need to refresh over a certain topic. Or if you remember things visually then mind maps and flash cards are a massive help. These helped me massively when I was studying history! You could also try the method of teaching the topics you are revising to somebody else. I did this with a parent and found I was able to recall the information a lot better.

I hope these helped. Good luck with your studies!

Hi @Taran52

The reply above has some great advice!

Something else I would recommend is to have a go at past exam papers and essay questions once you feel confident with the course content. There's usually quite a few available online you can access. When I did these, I would sometimes do them in timed conditions, sometimes not if I wanted to focus on crafting better answers. And I would sometimes do them 'open book' with some notes in front of me when I was trying to practice essay structures and answer structures.

I found these especially helpful for History as my exam was pretty much all essay style questions and it helps to practice writing in timed conditions to become more used to writing quickly while still writing quality answers.

Hope this helps. 🙂

Hey, I’m a former A Level History student who studied the Tudors, and is starting their 2nd year at Oxford University now. I offer some tuition on the side, so I would love to tutor you for The Tudors! I too struggled with it went from a D in mocks to an A*,achieving a 98% in my actual paper! I have loads of techniques, notes and essay plans, and even my marked exam scripts from my actual A Level to help you get the grades you want. Just pop me a dm andI’ll be happy to help!
