Hi @HagaP !

I haven't lived in either (I live in Keynes) but from what I've been told, Parkwood is a bit more sociable, and tends to have a few more parties given the proximity of people both in shared houses and given how close houses are together.

However, sociability is a lot more dependent on individual flats/houses, more than actual spaces and there will still be tons of opportunities to socialise with people from other accommodations and via shared spaces such as our Campus club Venue and our restaurants and bars.

To help you make your decision, it might be worth considering other factors too:

Would you prefer to live in a lone room or share with someone else in a twin room?

Would you prefer an en-suite bathroom or are you happy to share facilities?

Would you like a catered or self-catered room? - you can still opt for our food plan with a self-catered room!

Location - how close is your accomodation to amenties and your main classrooms?

Would you prefer a normal lifestyle or moderate living which is quieter and less party orientated?

I have also found some general information about both of your options which might help:

Parkwood - https://www.kent.ac.uk/accommodation/canterbury/undergraduate-accommodation/park-wood-houses
Tyler C - https://www.kent.ac.uk/accommodation/canterbury/undergraduate-accommodation/tyler-court-b-c

I hope that helps, let me know if you have any further questions.

I hope you enjoy living at Kent!

Hey @HagaP !!

I can see that Gabby has replied to your message but I also thought that it would be worth replying also as I have some close friends in both accommodations which have some unique experiences that may be valuable in helping your understanding.

Park Wood is a fantastic place to live if you are greatly sociable and want endless memories and great relationships! At a good friend of mine's place in Parkwood you can hear everyone who lives together making a group effort to play games, study together, cook together and just thoroughly have fun!

Tyler Court is also a great place but perhaps a little bit quieter. You still share a kitchen and spaces with others which can prove to be very sociable but you also have your own personal shower and personal toilet rather than a shared one in the house. If you are a person who enjoys more personal time maybe this would also be good to consider.

Really it comes down to your preference, it may be worth writing out your preferences for both and weighing them against one another!

Take care,

Brandon
