Clearing before results day

Hi,

I have already received my A-Level results last year and firmed an unconditional offer, however, I have recently decided that another university would be better suited to me.

The university and the course that I want is available on clearing. Am I able to apply and get a place through clearing before this years results day?

Hello @areyousirius,
This may be tricky to achieve, since typically you can't apply through Clearing until you have your results. However, you should still be able to apply if you believe other university and course are a better fit for you. Just remember, if you received an unconditional offer and accepted it, in order to apply to different university through clearing, you have to decline the firm offer in your application.

My advice is to first contact the uni you want to apply to through its clearing page and get more detailed information from an official source.

Additionally, I can recommend checking out this Guide for clearing process on here as well as on UCAS.

Hope all goes well,

Hi, thanks for your response. I already have my results so hopefully that won't be an obstacle, I have since emailed the university to check about the transfer before declining my current offer. Thanks for your advice!

Yes but you need to get a move on.

If you’re holding a deferred place then you need to:
A) ask your deferred university to withdraw your application from last year asap
B) submit a new UCAS application for this cycle

Ideally you would want to get both of those things sorted before Monday so that when UCAS is fully functioning again on Tuesday (Scottish results day) you can contact universities and secure a clearing place before UCAS is frozen again a week on Friday.
