How do you stay motivated and manage your time effectively while preparing for exams?
What I do is I print out a month or two of my calendar and write down all my exams. Then for each day on the calendar I write down 2 or 3 subjects which I will revise that day (no specific time, topics or length though). Based on how important, how much work i need to do and how much time I have until the exam I choose which subjects will need more sessions. Then for each session the day before I go onto wheel of names and I write down some stuff I need to get done for that subject like for English lit I might write down quotations flashcards, video on characters, themes mindmap etc. Then when I sit down to revise for that session I spin the wheel and get a task to do. For each session I revise a minimum of 30 minutes and a maximum of 90- I take breaks and pause the timer even 30 minutes cos pomodoro but after 90 minutes I would then spend around 30 minutes not doing anything revision related. If I miss a session I have to catch up on it another day so I cross it out on my calendar and write it on a day in the future so I remember. I usually kept Saturdays free for any homework and art work during my mocks and didn’t revise at all on Saturday so any sessions I didn’t do usually got moved to then. During the actual exam season I usually didn’t revise on Fridays (unless id missed a session) so doing all my work meant I got a break which motivated me not to miss sessions. Hope this helps with some ideas and happy to clarify anything if it seems unclear!

How do you stay motivated and manage your time effectively while preparing for exams?

Hey there 😀

I completely understand how challenging it can be to stay motivated and manage your time effectively while preparing for exams. It is a struggle many of us face, but there are some strategies that can really help.

One thing that has made a big difference for me is creating a study plan. Having a clear plan with all materials spread across weeks (or months, depending how much time I have) helps me feel more organised and confident because I can see exactly what I need to cover and by when. It also makes the workload feel more manageable because I am tackling it bit by bit rather than all at once (it really helps with motivation!)

When making a study plan, I start by breaking down each subject into topics and then allocating specific times to study each topic. I also make sure to assign enough breaks within my study sessions. Taking regular breaks is crucial because it prevents burnout. So, I make sure to balance my study time with activities I enjoy. Whether it is going for a walk, watching a show, or spending time with friends, doing things I love helps me stay motivated and maintain a positive mindset.

It is also helpful to mix up study techniques to keep things less boring and figure out the most efficient way for yourself. I love preparing my own “testing” questions while going through the materials or notes. Afterwards, I have an amazing revision tool.

Remember, it is important to be kind to yourself. If you miss a study session or do not meet a goal, it is okay. Just adjust your plan and keep moving forward. The key is consistency and not giving up.

I hope it was helpful 💪 Feel free to reach out if you have any questions 😉 You can also chat with me or other students directly through The Ambassador Platform.

keep a calendar/ exam timetable in your sight, when you randomly look at it when you zone out or feel like u cba, it kinda just gives you a reality check and motivates u to work whilst u can😭
