HCA Bank / Nursing Degree

Hi

I’m planning on going back to university to study Adult Nursing but would be looking to work part-time alongside (3 young children, so would need to top up income). I have seen lots of people recommend working as HCAs, but when I check the NHS Bank website, it seems like you need qualifications/experience before signing up. Is this correct or am I misreading?

Would I need to get a HCA/Care Assistant role elsewhere to build up my experience before applying for bank shifts?

Any advice welcome!

Thank you in advance!

Yes there are education/experience requirements for the bank, but what those requirements are vary depending on where you live. I would definetely recommend trying a permanent position first, so you can get some experience and training. Once you're in a permanent position they might be able to streamline you onto the bank too, it just makes the whole process easier.

Generally, nursing students are allowed to work on the bank after doing a certain amount of placement too, but I imagine that varies depending on your area too.

Does anyone here know of any agencies hiring HCAs without experience in the UK? I’m a nurse by profession from my home country and am new here in the UK. Please!😭😭😭

Agencies are not getting much work at the moment, you might be better off looking into nhs jobs or care homes, stuff like that
