I'm a May 2024 IB graduate who got 42 points, 776 at HL with a 6 in HL Maths. I've already been rejected from Cambridge post-interview this year and I was wondering if I reapplied whether or not the 6 would make it not worth applying... I know that at least 50% of colleges specify that they require a 7 in HL maths, some are a bit ambiguous, and some seem to accept 6's, but I feel like if I'm up against people with predicted 7's and people who have A*s in Maths and FM at A-Level, I won't be able to compete, unless i somehow manage to do really well on the TMUA (last year i only got a 5.1) and my interview if I get one.
I'm wondering about applying to Corpus Christi since they seem to be the most lenient on maths compared to the rest of the colleges. They say "Whilst we require A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics is seen as desirable (but not at all essential), Economics is not Applied Mathematics and we are not looking for mathematical wizards". They also say A*A*A is the typical offer (not specifying that maths needs to be A*) so I assume this translates to 42 overall, 776 at HL in the IB, without needing a 7 in HL Maths.
Does anyone have any advice for me? Thank you
(P.S., if i dont go for cambridge, I'm wondering about Oxford's History and Economics, but the cambridge course interests me far more and i would prefer the TMUA to the HAT and TSA). That being said, a 6 in maths wont be a problem for me with Oxford, but I only have history SL, not HL).
