Don't want to go to my insurance - Clearing??

My firm university is Durham which I need AAB for and my insurance is King's College London which I need ABB. However, my circumstances have changed and I now really do not want to go to King's if I miss out on Durham. I would rather go to a different uni in the northeast like Newcastle or Northumbria or York than King's. What do I need to do to make sure I don't have to go there? Do I decline the offer or wait until results day and go through clearing? Do I automatically get sent to King's if I don't get my grades for Durham?

You'll have to wait until results day. If you get into Durham then all good. If you get into King's, you can release yourself into clearing on the UCAS hub.

As above - there's nothing that your universities can do now until results day.

However I would recommend you emailing Kings (or use their applicant message thing on portico) and let them know that you no longer wish to take up your place.

Unfortunately UCAS only allow applicants to use "decline my place" to put themselves in clearing if their offer is unconditional....and some universities will not prioritise sending decisions for insurance applicants to UCAS in time for results day. So you might find you're unable to place yourself in clearing on results day and instead have to spend time calling Kings to get them to make a decision so you can use clearing.

If you've notified them in advance then there is a chance that they'll be able to process a decision quicker for you so it reduces the chance of that extra stress on results day.
