Can anyone help I am wanting to study psychology with counselling at york st john but I have family and part time job. Can anyone tell me what the timetable is like each week

Hi,
You will have two different timetables, one in semester 1 , and another in semester 2.

You will have roughly 1 lecture and 1 seminar for each of your modules. You will study 3 modules in each semester in Year 1 and Year 2 (so 6 per year).

Normally the amount of contact time will differ between courses and years, so it's hard to predict the exact amount of time you will have on campus, but friends of mine who have and are currently studying psychology have said it's roughly between 12 - 16 hours a week. This is normally spread over a couple of days, but you should have at least 1 or 2 days of during the week.

Most students at YSJ have part time jobs, and have found it relevantly easy to fit the job around the course timetable. If you find that the timetable you have received, makes it quite hard to work alongside the course, you can always talk to the academic tutor who may be able to switch your seminar groups, which may help this.

I have had a part time job as a student ambassador since my first year, I'm currently in my 4th studying a masters, and have found it okay to fit round my study's over the past 4 years. I would always recommend becoming a student ambassador, as it's easy to do a shift between lecturers due to already being on campus, and the pay being very good for a student job. Applications normally open August/September time each year.
