Worried about student finance

Hi, so basically I am going into second year at the university of Exeter. My parents separated a year and a half ago, so for first year I was able to just put my dad's income down, it's quite low so I got the maximum maintenance loan alongside a bursary from university of Exeter for having an income of below £16,000.

There is also no way that my parents would be able to give me any money per month to help me.

For this coming academic year (2024-25) I put in the tax year 2022-23 as requested. This year my dad received an anomaly if a lum sum from his pensions, taking his amounts to £28000 approximately, with evidence via his PPF2 form.

It is saying I'll only receive £1573.11 per term, which is so much lower than last time and this won't even cover my rent. I have health issues so I cannot work alongside my degree. I receive pip and last year I got the special support loan too, I put in my evidence for pip.

My status on student finance is saying that the application has been submitted and approved (both boxes ticked) but the confirming all details bit isn't ticked yet.

Will this change when the details have been reviewed? I am extremely stressed about this. And I can't call anyone as my phone number isn't working right now.

Anyway, thank you to whoever reads, I appreciate it!

Best wishes

Hi Celine. The "under review" section will likely now just be for the PIP evidence you submitted to be reviewed to assess you for an additional amount of Maintenance Loan. In terms of your sponsors income, has this dropped by 15% or more since the 22/23 Tax Year compared to this current Tax year (24/25)? Thanks, David

Hi Dave, thank you for the reply.
I have asked my dad for his current tax return form for this year, to see his income.
But I think it will be 15% less. If it is 15% less, what will be the routine, do I send his pff2 in relation for his current tax year?

For his previous tax year 2021-22 he earned less that £16,000 per year, which is why I received the access to Exeter funding and the max maintenance loan (£11,000). But for his current earnings that I submitted (tax year 2022-23) it was about £28000. I put this into the student finance calculator and it came up as the maximum amount so I'm really worried.

Best wishes

Hi Celine. We would be comparing the 22/23 figures to the current tax year. So if the combined household income has dropped by 15% or more compared to how much the estimated income will be for the current tax year (24/25) then your sponsors can complete a Current Year Income form. You can find this form attached below. Once we receive and process this we can then reassess your entitlement based on their reduced income and then we will request evidence of their actual income after the tax year ends.
