Can I get funding for an MSc?

Hi!

I have an undergraduate which I got 7 years ago then went onto do my MA in social work (this was all funded so I didn't take out any loans) however, I now want to do a Pre-Registration Occupational Therapy MSc (2 years). Can I apply for the tuition fees and maintenance loan for this course?

Thank you

Have you done the requisite Googling? Also, you could ring the SLC up directly to ask or your university.

I think you will be able to apply for the funding as even though its a MSc the funding goes through on the undergrad section on SFE so you can access the course fees and mainance loan. You can apply for funding on SFE to the uni your thinking of applying too even before been accepted to confirm.

Hello, if you don't mind me asking. Why OT masters when you already have a Social work masters. I am thinking about both that is why I am asking. Please tell me your opinion on both.
Hi there 🙂

Pre-registration postgraduate courses are funded as undergraduate courses and may fall under the exceptions where students can receive undergraduate student finance even if they already have a degree. This typically includes a tuition fee loan and a maintenance loan through Student Finance England (SFE).

Since funding rules can change, I’d recommend checking directly with Student Finance England and your university’s student finance team to confirm eligibility.

You may also be eligible for the NHS Learning Support Fund (LSF), which includes:

A £5,000 training grant (non-repayable)

Additional support for childcare, hardship, or travel costs (if applicable)

You can find out more here.

Hope that helps! 😊
Thanks, N.
