Advice for what University to apply to for clearing

Hello, so, I'm an international student. I'm trying to find a uni but not sure what to look for. I want to study computer science. My UCAS points are 120 with an A in Maths A-level. My main issue is of course the fees, trying to get as low as possible while going to a good uni. Thanks and God bless

Are these predicted or actual UCAS points? What are the exact grades?

Hello!

As a 2nd year Computer Science student at Lancaster University, I would definitely recommend my degree and the university as a whole.
Computer Science BSc Hons (G400) - Lancaster University
Firstly, the course itself is quite practical and engaging, and offers a lot of flexibility which allows you to pick optional modules starting in the second year and easily switch between degrees such as Computer Science, Cyber Security, and Software Engineering if your interests change throughout the first year.
Secondly, Lancaster is a top 10 university and has a big proportion of international students as well. There are a lot of cultural societies and communities, so you would be able to fit in and hopefully find a new home away from home at the lovely uni campus.
The international fees here are also low compared to many other universities (e.g. Warwick, Imperial or Bath), and Lancaster accommodation prices are also on the cheaper side of the range, with budget-friendly options available both on campus and in town 😊
There are also scholarships available for International students, which may help with the costs of education: Lancaster Global Scholarship - Undergraduate - Lancaster University

Hope this helps!

Lancaster University Student Ambassador.

There will be more options available as we get closer to (and even on) results day next week. I must stress that you really need to consider your source of funding and if you'll be able to pay both tuition and fund your living expenses if you come here.

If you wish, but you'll get much better advice here in this thread where a range of experts can chip in as needed. Also think about people in your situation in the next one or two years, the guidance given in this thread could help greatly.

that's true. Alright, I already live in the UK, in case that didn't come out initially. It's easy to commute to Hertfordshire University for me. therefore I'll only be paying the actual school fees rather than maintenance+tuition. I'm wondering if there are other unis around that price(15.5k) that are better. Alternatively, I could travel abroad to study as other EU countries seem quite cheaper

Hi @Hwilson19
Have you tried searching for courses on the UCAS website? There's a handy tool which shows all of the available courses and you can select the course by grad requirements and it provides a brief summary of the course at each university.
https://digital.ucas.com/coursedisplay/results/courses?searchTerm=computer%20science&studyYear=2024&destination=Undergraduate&vacancy=eng&postcodeDistanceSystem=imperial&pageNumber=1&sort=MostRelevant&clearingPreference=CoursesInClearing
Also, if your looking to apply to university via clearing you could sign up to clearing plus on the UCAS website which should suggest appropriate courses.
Hope this helps,

York St John has a a dedicated support hub for international students, called 'Global Campus Team'. They are there to help you with any questions or problems you may have before you arrive, while you study or after you have left YSJ. They also put on arrange of social activities that aim to support inclusion, friendships and intercultural understanding amongst all students. They also host a number of different trips in the North of England.
