Exchange student

Recently I’ve been thinking about becoming an exchange student and going to study in the US. I’m from the UK and I’ve been looking into programmes but I’m overall just confused about everything and the whole process. I was also wondering if there would be a possibility to graduate and spend a longer time instead of just a year. I’m currently 15 and going into year 11. But I’ve been thinking about doing an exchange programme instead. Can anyone tell me what their experiences were like. How which programme I can apply too. How long the process takes. If there are any scholarships I can apply for and how. Also on prices as well and if there’s a possibility I would be able to graduate and do a 3 year education instead.

'Exchange' means just spending one term, very rarely one year, at another Uni. If you want to do a whole course at an overseas Uni, you have to apply to that uni. Exchange schemes are not nearly as common at uni as they are at school.

What exchanges there are at Uni will be organised in year 2, and won't much be advertised until you are a student in your first year.
