Migrant Worker applications

Hello,
I applied for the student loan as a migrant worker from Italy with pre-settlement status. I know you need to work during the course year in order to be eligible but do you need to work since the first day of study? I'm currently working full time in Liverpool and plan on leaving my current job at the beginning of September so I can move to London where my uni is. During the first few weeks I'll be jobless since I'll need time to find a job and everything, would that affect my application? And If I'm not able to find a job during the first months will my application be cancelled? I've read in this forum of a student who didn't work enough hours so they cancelled their application, is it possible?
Thank you for your time.
Kind regards

Good morning. You'd need to be working from the 1st of September to qualify for term 1 of the maintenance loan. If you do leave your employment after this date with a gap in employment it may mean that you're not eligible for term 1 for the loan. I'd advise sending us your P45 for the job you leave and then your contract of employment and new payslips for the new employment once you receive these. The assessors will then review this and determine your eligibility. Thanks, Jason

What if I leave my job at the end of September instead of the beginning? So I'll be working from the first day of September as you said, until the last of September, but I'll probably be without work until I find a new job then. I also thought you could receive the maintenance loan while you were actively looking for work ( if I remember correctly you had to send them proof of your jobs applications/ job centre application) is it true?
Hi r6y,

If you voluntarily leave your job and have a gap in employment then this will affect your maintenance funding. You will need to send us evidence that you have left your job such as your P45. You can only remain eligible for Migrant Worker funding if you have involuntarily lost your job and in this case you can send us evidence that you are looking for work.

Thanks,
Calum
