BTEC’s being scrapped

I have just finished my level 3 BTEC in Travel and tourism in June, waiting for my results on the 15th of august.
I’ve just read that BTEC’s might be scrapped?
Why is this happening?
Does this mean my certificate will be useless to employers?

If they are scrapped your qualification will still be recognised.
The previous Government planned to scrap them as they wanted to push A levels or T levels.
However the new Labour Government have put this on hold and are reviewing the policy, so BTECs might not be scrapped after all.
Given that T-Levels have been a bit of a flop I can’t see this happening any time soon. Even then, existing quals will still be recognised just as things like O-Levels are now.
As above, if they are "scrapped" all it will mean is that new students won't be able to do that qualification - like O-levels or Cambridge Pre-U. The existing qualfiications will still be recognised.

Also I'm not sure Labour would care to get rid of them, especially as noted above the Tory replacement (T-levels) are by all accounts not fit for purpose!
