Underage at Freshers (St Andrews)

Hi! I’m looking to go to St Andrews uni, but when I go, I’ll be 17 (freshers starts a few weeks before my 18th ☹️). Is there plently of things to do that don’t involve drinking? Would I be allowed into freshers events as long as I dont purchase alcohol?

Yes there are plenty of things that don't involve alcohol and also plenty of people not drinking alcohol at events. For some events they provide different wristbands for over/under 18s, to make it simpler for bar staff, as there will be a fair number of under 18s during Freshers.
This is me too, I'm not 18 till December!

I’m also an incoming fresher at St Andrews ! From what I’ve seen, at St Andrew’s more than most places, there are plenty of events without alcohol. St Andrews’ large American student population means that there are more alcohol free spaces as attitudes to alcohol are harsher over there and some aren’t willing to drink under 21.

So I’d say you’re probably at the right uni, anyway, for a fulfilling fresher’s week without alcohol.
