What should I do

I did bad at GCSES (7-4 with majority 6s) and want to apply to Cambridge maths. I am currently predicted A*A*A and want to get that to A*A*A* in September. I have done a wide range of super curricular activities. I know the best thing for my application would be to do well on the entrance exam but you sit the STEP after they decide who get an offer? So what can I do to shoe that im good at maths before they select who gets an interview.

If you have any extenuating circumstances surrounding your exams, let the university know. Cambridge has a separate extenuating circumstances form that you can complete if this is the case. Other than that, you’ll need a strong personal statement. Your super curriculars should not only demonstrate that you are passionate about studying maths but that you are capable of studying maths. After you submit your application, there is also the My Cambridge Application, which gives you the option of adding a second Cambridge specific personal statement. If there is something you only want Cambridge to know, this could be used to further demonstrate your ability to study maths at Cambridge. It is optional, so if you feel like your personal statement covers everything, you won’t be penalised for leaving it blank. Cambridge tend to interview the majority of their applicants. The people who get rejected prior to interview are people they feel are not competitive candidates for Cambridge (e.g. predicted grades that are lower than the entry requirements, weak personal statement).

So long as your Maths is on track, they won't care much about GCSEs. Maths filters risk out by using STEP.

So the odds of me are getting an offer are higher than other subjects because the STEP is what people fail on?

STEP is taken post-offer only. To try and get in, you should have good predictions, decent PS & reference but most of all be ready for a maths interview!
Also, while trying to be hopeful, do at least acknowledge the probability of deselection so that your hopes don’t get too dashed if worst comes to worst since the vast majority of applicants are eventually rejected.
