just some advice needed please :)

hello, im 18 y/o, female, and i've finished my a levels now, waiting for my results to come. i also have a part time job which i have saved quite a significant amount of money from it. over a month ago, me and my dad had an argument which he smashed my iphone 12 pro into pieces and then threw it in the bin afterwards lmao. now, im about to buy myself a new mobile phone but he's demanding that i purchase an Android instead however hes not offering to pay for the phone anyways. I have to. i just see it as unfair because you've already broke my previous phone and now i'm not necessarily choosing a mobile phone that i'd prefer. im not too sure what to do but any advice would be lovely

I don't think he should have any say on what phone you should buy, a) its your money, b) he broke the previous one, and C) he won't contribute to the new one anyway, he isn't even going to be using it himself. Its's a bit selfish. Go get that phone

i just worry what he could do tbh since he's currently got a hold of all of my id including my license and passport lmaoo and he's got my debit cards as well its a frustrating situation tbh. he said me having an android will "humble myself" and hes doing it because he loves me.

I'm so sorry, I can't believe he smashed a phone. He has no right to get mad at you when you buy an iPhone because its your own money - that's so selfish and childish. I've used aneroids in the past and I do prefer them more to an iPhone so I don't understand how an android will "humble you". The only reason I have an iPhone now is because I like the look of them. If I could have an android phone that has the same design as an iPhone, I would in a heartbeat.
It just sounds like he wants to dictate you're life and there are better ways for him to love you than "humbling" you with an android. Buying an android isn't the end of the world but I don't understand why he is trying to force you to buy it with your own money when he was the one who broke yours.
Is there anyway you can get ur cards back? For safety? You should also tell him now that you're 18, it would be smart of you to carry you're license and ID with you - otherwise what is the point in having it if it's not constantly with you. You could get into trouble.
