What level Crest Award are you planning on doing? Gold? Some of my teachers say that the Gold Crest award essentially has the same workload as an Epq, but doesn’t have as much recognition (i.e. no extra UCAS points)
You could do an Epq and maybe a silver or bronze crest award as they require less hours of work and research

Doing 4 a levels and an epq is often advised against because whichever year you take your epq you’ll be doing the same number of hours as it would take to do 5 a levels. However if you think you can manage doing an extra qualification on top of your studies then go for it, you could always drop it if its too much!

The key difference is an epq has less recognition because of no extra ucas points (as mentioned above) however if you’re taking 4 subjects that’s likely less of a concern. If the crest award seems more interesting to you than an epq then it might be a better option. You can discuss both on your personal statement as an achievement in reading around your subject.
