Queen mary or sussex?

Hi guys, i´ve been very indecisive about whether to choose Queen Mary or University of Sussex on results day. I want to study psychology and although my firm is QM and my insurance is Sussex I´ve been having second thoughts. I always loved London bc of its diveristy, not only that but I also like the options of the modules I can study in year 3 at QM. But the reason why I`m having second thoughts is bc I´ll be commuting every day from home and QM is further than Sussex, (London underground can be a nightmare and Iet´s not talk about train strikes) also I´ve been hearing lots of phone snatching incidents lately happening in London and I´m worried about my safety. What should I do? Is anyone studying psychology at Sussex, if so are you having a nice experience and is it diverse? Likewise, if you are studying psychology at QM please lmk about your experience. Thank you.

Your problem is that you cannot now sswitch between QMUL and Sussex.
If your Firm accepts you on Results Day, your Insurance automatically disappears and you cannot get it back. Your only option then would be to call Sussex as a Clearing applicant and hope they can accept you.

The choice between these two Unis - one is in inner city London (and not a safe area), the other is a campus Uni in Brighton //with all the fun of am arty seaside town. However, you also need to think about course content (look at all the optional Unis on offer at each Uni) and particularly if either if these courses has any sort of built-in work experience or study abroad opportunities - both would add greatly to your graduate CV.

I’ll note that, thank you for your reply!

Hey, I just finished my first year at sussex doing psychology! I was in a similar position to you with sussex being my insurance and those doubts but ultimately i knew i wanted to go to sussex. Lucky for me, i actually missed my firms grades so it all worked out. I think the course so far has been really good, it's very interesting, and there is a lot of freedom in options alongside core modules so you don't have to stick to psychology 100% of the time. There is also a lot of support from the psychology department so if you don't understand something they will always let you know where to get help and resources from.

Thank you for your reply, I needed to hear from someone that actually studies at Sussex and I can confess that I’m leaning more towards Sussex, I hope it works out. How was your experience in terms of socialising? Is the community diverse?

My experience started pretty rough just because my flat was pretty disconnected like we would have nice conversation and there were never any major issues but we weren't the flat that did a bunch of stuff together like a lot of other flats and in the beginning you'll will find people stick to people in their flat making it a bit harder to meet people straight away. That is not a sussex thing though, that is just down to luck on who your put with so realistically can happen at any uni. However, i joined a bunch of societies which did events and made friends from there who introduced me to others. I also joined a sports club which was really fun, at sussex we all support each other, there were always big crowds at games even from people who weren't in the club and there are always fun socials on a wednesday night that anyone can get involved with.

I would say the community is pretty diverse, I have met a lot of people from lots of different backgrounds including one of my flatmates who was international student. My family are Egyptian so I joined the arab society and middle eastern & african one and met so many people from my culture. I actually made my first friend from one of their events and now we're living together this year!
