Horrible results different sixth forms

Hey I need some help, can I transfer sixth forms due to horrible results from year 12 I’m going to have to retake it but would they allow me to do same subjects or different subjects the sixth form i go said I can retake a year but different subjects but it’s not medical related like medicine, but I’m wondering would they allow it? I emailed other sixth forms received one said I can retake a year but different subjects but I have a string aspiration of doing A-levels to do medicine, any help?

You say, "the sixth form i go said I can retake a year but different subjects but it’s not medical related like medicine" and "I have a string aspiration of doing A-levels to do medicine". Are you saying that your current six form would allow you to repeat year 12, but only if you chose different A levels, which were not related to medicine? That would tend to suggest that they feel your ability at such subjects (Chemistry, Biology, and perhaps Maths?) is weak and and that your talents lie elsewhere. If that's the case, is medicine really the right path for you?

You've done exactly the right thing by contacting you existing sixth form, and other potential sixth forms. Only they can answer your question, as they'll each have their own individual polices.
I would ask someone at the new sixth form to learn what subjects they'll allow you to take

That’s silly. I got D/E’s in Year 12 (taking Bio Chem Maths), and I managed to get up to A’s in Year 13. I got told my grades weren’t good enough for medicine yet here I am 🤷*♀️

Congrats! Did you take a gap year and then apply with your A’s ?

I got my A*AA predictions in September and applied for medicine but because my UCAT score was too low I didn’t get in. I am waiting for results day next week and hopefully it goes well for me to take a gap year.

I found that active recall for biology is so helpful, anki + premade flashcards bought from STEMUP saved me forreal. For chemistry I done a lot of AS past papers and watched video walkthroughs of them so I know my mistakes, then I watched videos on my weaker topics through Allery Chemistry. I saw my percentages go up, and I saw my first 75% in the start of year September test for chemistry. Shortly after I got an A in the bio test too. For maths just keep practicing and going over weak spots. In general past papers are a must as that is the only way you can acc track your progress. This is what worked for me so results may vary
