Pgce this year or next

Hello,

Any advice for my situation. I currently work in children's mental health and I'm looking to transition into teaching (I used to work as a TA).

I've just been offered a place on a PGCE at a uni approx an hour commute away. And I'm unclear where my placements would be. I love the sound of the course and the ethos of the uni. Due to personal circumstances I applied late.

I can't decide what to do as I feel I've left it too late notice. I haven't done the subject enhancement and worried I'll be under prepared. I really don't want to do myself a disservice and end up failing. I also realised I wouldn't be able to give 2 months notice to my current employer.

I'm leaning towards waiting another year and applying again/deferring but conscious it's another year away :-(

Any thoughts or advice? If I wait another year does anyone have any suggestions on things that might be helpful to prepare myself i.e. any books or would it be worth doing some supply work?

Really wish I could start in September but just feel like I've got the timing all wrong :frown:

Are there any PGCE starting in Jan?

Yes there are some providers that start courses in Jan and April but this will be dependent on availability usually this is for SCITT apprentices maybe you should reach out to your uni and check.
