Universal Credit while studying a PGCE??

Hello, so I just wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with this.

I’m going back to university to study my PGCE in primary education, so this is obviously classed as a postgraduate course and I’m entitled to £10k maintenance loan and a PLA. However, I currently receive universal credit as I’m on a low income as well as I have a child, and get the housing element, childcare element and the child element. Has anyone gone back to studying and still received universal credit? I did contact them and they said it will depend on a lot of factors and told me I’d have to ‘wait and see’.

Just worried as I will definitely need help paying my rent and don’t want to get kicked out the house, but am so excited to be studying this course and don’t want to give it up.

There is a great group on Facebook called Student on Universal Credit and if you give them all your UC info and course they’ll calculate it for you. It’s hard to say if you’ll get any UC as it completely depends on your rent/child/living elements etc ☺️

Hello, I'm in the same situation as you and reading you post. Have you started studying and is it doable? I'm trying to figure it all out with student finance and a part time pgce but am a single mum with a 2year old
