Am I being realistic? Vet Nursing

Hello!

I'm writing this on TSR because i'm unsure about what decision i should make and would appreciate outside opinions. I'm wanting to be a Veterinary Nurse starting in 2024 studying in Leeds. I'm living in Manchester and the campus is 3 hours away. I don't want to move out so that's not an option but when i went to the open day in Leeds it took me 4 hours! (I set out the house at 5am and got there for 9:30 - the tour began at 10:00) Am i being in denial for believing ill be able to do this treck 3x a week? I know it'll be hard but i just can't see/decide on any other career, i feel hopeless thinking Vet Nursing is my only option. Would love to hear different perspectives. Thanks!
Hi there 👋,

Everyone is different, and it depends on your lifestyle outside of university.

My advice would be that it is important to consider that you will have quite a large workload, so travelling a few hours a week does take time away from your studies. I think it is also important to consider that when doing a degree in a health science such as Vet Med, you will have to complete placements, which will most likely be based in the direction of your university.

I hope this helps,

are you relying on public transport? That seems a very long time to make that journey? To be honest anything more than 1.5 hours each way doesn't seem like a viable commute
