Cardiff University Accommodation

I am hoping to start undergraduate medicine at Cardiff this September 2024, and was wondering when the room offers for the accommodation are typically made or what time they were roughly made last year (how soon after Results Day)? I have Taly North as my top choice
In terms of after results day, what kind of things are useful to be doing to get ready for uni? From my research, making sure student finance is up to date, sorting accommodation and insurance, and doing online enrolment and orientation tasks. Is there anything else that you think is important before starting university?
Thank you so much in advance!

Hi,

Congrats on your offer! The time you get your offer back depends, did you submit your application before the deadline? You should get your offer pretty soon as this is the general time period that accommodation offers come back

Those are some great questions! I would say, it would be good to apply for a GP, especially if you have any ongoing health care with your current GP. It does sometimes take time to register students as there are quite a few students, so it may be helpful to do this earlier.

The university has a pretty comprehensive list of what things to bring or not to bring, and it might be helpful to have a look and prepare things you haven't had yet. There's also a brilliant blog here about what things to bring.

Some banks also do special offers for opening a student bank account, for example, offering a 4 year railcard, vouchers or cash. Some students switch banks for university for this. I wouldn't say its 100% necessary, as I didn't, but it can be a nice bonus to your student life  I do recommend doing your research for this, however.

Hope that helps!
