Graduate Entry Med at Oxford current students or offer holders and their stats + tips

I just finished first year pharmacy at Uni. I am very interested in applying to GEM after I finish. So, I wanted to create this post to see what I would need to do to build a competitive application. For any current GEM students at Oxford, what advice can you give? Any tips? And if you don’t mind sharing your stats and interview experience. Thank you!

Hi, I'm a pharmacist and current GEM offer holder for Oxford. As you are planning to apply after you finish pharmacy, I would recommend trying your best to get the best grades possible so that you have at least a 2:1 or 1st class for when you apply. Also, some colleges want to see you have recent and good grades for chemistry modules. Try and get some work experience outside of pharmacy during your summers if you can but this is not absolutely necessary (I didn't).

I had a 1st class and a PhD but there are lots with and without masters who have got in. Interviews were not as bad as I thought they would be, when you apply reach out and I am more than happy to help you with interview practice!

Hi! I think something which really helped my application was having a year of patient facing work experience so in my statement and interview I could use lots of real examples on patient interactions and show that I understand the reality of working with people who are unwell and in distress. I also read a lot of books written by healthcare professionals of all kinds and written experiences of patients.

What I wrote there is all I have, I didn't do my IP as was doing the PhD, and now that i am in med, i don't plan on doing it, so i do not believe IP is something they are bothered about

Hi! I'm a Psychology & Philosophy student who graduated last year from Oxford with a 1st class degree and am now considering GEM, but feel like I have very little chances (I have some mental health related research and volunteer experience but not in the NHS, my degree didn't have any chem/bio/physics component beyond basic neuroscience, and I'm an international student). May I ask if you have any coursemates with similar backgrounds? Thank you!
