repeating year 12

hi! i’m currently in year 12 summer about to go into year 13, although i haven’t got my as results yet i know they will not be as good as i would like/need, im studying sociology english lang and media i enjoy both sociology and english and believe with an extra year i could easily get the grades i just did not put in enough effort, but i really don’t like media, i dislike it to the point i’ve avoided college on days i know i’ll have a media lesson and i feel behind in all parts of the subject especially course work which counts to the final grade.
at uni i would like to study language/linguistics so would retaking year 12 with sociology english and another subject perhaps politics be worth it ? because that genuinely interests me whereas media i took because i felt unsure but i feel more sure about this?

Personal opinion: if you don't like media, I recommend resitting Year 12.
You would need 3 strong A Levels to do Language or Linguistics. Going on 2 isn't enough.

You can alternatively go onto Yr 13, start another A Level, and then stay on for a gap year to finish the final A Level.

It's not recommended that you try to fit in a whole A Level in Year 13 alongside your other 2 A Levels, even if the college permits it.
Also, if you didn't get the grades you need, it's also strongly recommended that you resit the year (or at least Year 13, when the grades count)

thank you! yeah i definitely haven’t got the grade this year i think it would be worth resitting and doing year 12 again with a new subject, i’ll probably wait until actual results day for the two as levels i sat but i don’t think going into year 13 next year is worth it with grades i think i’ll get 😭 thank you though you’ve reassured me a lot i appreciate it!
