Appeals and Remarks 2024

Hi everyone!

If you didn't quite meet the grade requirements for your options- don't panic! It's worth chatting to the university to see if they can be flexible in their entry requirements and, if not, looking at other options via clearing. There are a range of courses open across many universities so it's worth checking them out to see if something is a good fit for you, even if you didn't originally consider it!

Best of luck making the right decisions for you!

If it helps, the average mark change after a remark is around 1 mark for Biology, and that could be up or down.

I'm going ask for my scripts back and ask my teachers if the marking was fair or not and then decide from there whether I still want a remark. Even though a grade change is slightly unlikely looking at the stats I know that I'll probably regret not asking for a remark afterwards.

Some useful stats that I give to students who are considering a remark. This is raw mark "change" so that could be up or down.
AS/A Level

GCSE

Annoyingly, I don't think Ofqual provide further info like the standard deviation for example. to be able to calculate the probability of increasing by a certain number of marks.

Thanks so much for the stats. They’re very helpful
Does anybody know how long it usually takes for remarks to get back as I’m still waiting on mine.

My teacher wasnt giving them back. She just said shell look at them herself 🤷🏻*♀️
I also cant get my aqa sociologu ones because we have no sociologu teacher and the head of humanities is an edexcel teacher so she can only access edexcel papers. The exams officers are shite they tell you to go go your teachers. So i got papers in for a remark that i havent even seen lmao

Then get in touch with the school's exams officer and request access to your scripts.
