The Student Room Group

What's the best and worst accomodation in Nottingham?

I got an offer through clearing so this is probably a little late. But, what student halls would you recommend to stay in and those I should stay away from?
Would it be a good idea to stay in University Park campus even though one will study in Jubilee campus (I heard more stuff happens in University park)?
Also, should I move out after the first year so that it would be cheaper?

Hello!

The distance between Jubilee and University Park Campus is approximately 1 mile. There is a bus service that operates efficiently between both campuses, so that it is not a bad idea to stay at University Park and commute to Jubilee Campus.

When it comes to student halls, there is no definitive answer. It truly depends on your preferences and your budget too. In short, the main differences between rely on whether the acommodation that you choose is catered or self-catered.

Catered

Breakfast and Dinner included (Brunch and dinner on the weekends).

Flats of 16 people (+/- a few students)

Shorter tenancies as you may have to move things out of your room at Christmas and Easter.

Based on campus.

Have hall socials at Christmas and Summer

Non-catered

Longer tenancies in general.

More flexibility in terms of cooking.

Not on campus.

Students tend to move to privately owned accomodation after first year with their friends, albeit there are also students residing in university halls in the latter years of their studies.

Here is more information with regards to accommodation (Accommodation) and the Hopper Bus service (Hopper Bus).

All the best,
Abián.

The uni park halls are a really great experience, catered halls have a really nice social atmosphere to them. The walk between campuses also isn’t too bad particularly if you’re on the east side of uni park.

The vast majority of students do move into a student house from second year onwards, id definitely recommend this but it’s not something you really have to worry about until you’re settled at university down the line.
