Chances for unis with my SQA results?

I have got 3 As in Accounting, English and ESOL, a B in physics and Cs in mathematics and computing science. I am concerned that due to my subpar performance in maths and computing I wont be considered for universities like Glasgow and Strathclyde who require maths at an A level at higher, however for a year 2 entry they talk about having 3 advanced highers, with a maths at an A grade. Glasgow states that "Typically offers will be made at AAAAA by end of S6. B at Advanced Higher is equivalent to A at Higher" and that "Additional requirements: Higher Mathematics and a Higher Science subject at AA. (AB may be considered)." I am planning on pursuing maths, physics and computing science at an advanced higher level, so would I have a chance for a uni like Glasgow or Strathclyde, or is it not likely for me to get even a conditional offer? Thanks.

Good afternoon everyone, hope the exams have gone well for students studying Scottish qualifications.

Hiya, can I just confirm which course at Strathclyde or Glasgow you are hoping to study?

Also, would you consider travelling a bit further?
So that all of the advice is in 1 place for you, I've put all your posts together and altered the thread title. Hope that is okay.

Hi, it's a BSc in Finance and mathematics at Glasgow university, and in Strathclyde it is a BSc in mathematics, finance and statistics. I am also considering Glasgow Caledonian University as an option since it does seem like a uni that I can easily bank now, and asides from those 3 I really just want to stay within Glasgow

Okay, I'm going to try and recap below so that I fully understand everything:

You have Highers: AAABCC
C in Maths
You've just finished S5?

You're now going to start advanced highers in Maths, Physics & CompSci in S6.
Glasgow are going to need at least 2 of those to be As, including Maths.

The tall order here is Advanced Higher Maths. I don't know how confident you feel about that, and whether your UCAS application would include a predicted grade of A. I would talk to your maths teacher about whether that's realistic. I would also contact Glasgow (in September) about whether you would be eligible for year 2 entry with AA in Advanced Highers despite AABCC in Highers, or would they instead advise you to apply there for year 1 entry to have a greater chance of success. Then you could apply to Glasgow Y1, Strathclyde Y2 and Glasow Cal Y2 - potentially Glasgow Y2 if they respond positively to your enquiry.

Does that sound like a decent plan?

Hello, Following my higher results from last year, in which I attained 3 As in English, Accounting and ESOL (English for speakers of other languages), a B in physics and 2 Cs in maths and computing science, giving me a total of 168 UCAS Tariff points.

My school started S6 in June, and I have taken Advanced Highers in maths, physics and computing science, as well as a Higher in business management, although in an effort to make my life easier for this year, I was thinking of dropping CS altogether, since I am not pursuing a degree in maths and computing science; I want to study maths and finance or maths and statistics and finance. Glasgow university and Strathclyde university offer those courses respectively.

Would it be possible for me to be considered for those courses if I were to drop adv higher computing science, assuming I get my 2 advanced highers at an A grade as well as the additional higher I am taking for next year? Thanks

Yes, as long as you meet the grade requirements for the course it does not matter if you take computing science, AH computing isn't even required for CS degrees, the most important subject is AH maths if you're interested in pursuing a maths degree.
:ditto:

And once again, I have merged your threads together, please don't create separate discussions - it makes things harder to keep track of with what advice you have received.

Hi I also got a C in higher maths but I’m predicted an A in advanced higher maths and want to apply to same uni same course. If I maintain my prediction of A in adv h maths and adv h accounting could I get a conditional offer?

You could do, yes.

That doesn't mean you will, but you could.
