A little advice from someone who was in a similar position as you last year and am now starting at Glasgow for vet med, on results day I got AAAAC with the C being in English which was a shock since I was scoring high in prelims so I appealed it and got my grade moved up to a B. But only about 11 out of over 170 appeals for my school got upgraded so I wouldn’t get your hopes up but if you truly feel it’s wrong then all you can do at the moment is appeal and wait I’m afraid (mine came through in early November)
Firstly they do make mistakes marking sometimes however last year the SQA refused to do remarks only recounts not sure if that’s still the case but if so it’s sh**
Also I was able to apply without the B I needed as I just let the unis know I was appealing and emailed them when the appeal came through however had my grade stayed the same I would have been rejected
Usually unis will allow you to get grades by the end of s6, is this an option?

Yes it is but it has an S5 min of ABB (B maths B English). Did u retake English while you were waiting on appeal results. I know the course so it would just be a matter of refreshing as to why I’m considering not taking it till after appeal results. I know they don’t do remarks and I don’t understand what could have happened but I’m certain I scored higher, for example in maths the teacher did the exam and gave us a marking scheme and I scored 72% on it and I somehow was given a C by sqa. Would i qualify for priority appeal?

I didnt retake the course for the same reason you stated and also that I didn’t need it for Glasgow (contextual offers)
Unfortunately I wasn’t allowed to priority appeal even though the vet med deadline is 16th of October but that could have been my schools choice so definitely ask and explain

Thanks for the advice man, really happy to hear you got into the course. Would you recommend me take english after appeal results or straight away? I’m already familiar with the course anyway

I know how it feels to be disappointed on results day as you feel that there was a mistake and it’s a horrible feeling but the Sqa DO make mistakes even on mine which was close to the grade boundary so should have been checked twice You can submit a form asking for your results form the Sqa or ask ur skl

Thanks man ye it’s been a really depressing last few days but I have hope that it will be resolved as it’s simply impossible I could have achieved this amount of Cs. Just unsure if I should take English now or after the appeal results if needed

I would wait to take it as you’ve already done a year of it, i would also recommend emailing any of the unis you want to apply to and ask if you could still apply ?

The uni that I badly want to go to is Glasgow uni. I will email them with my situation , I completed a course of theirs called topup which lowers the entry requirments to ABB

Hi
Today i received my exam results in higher and achieved ABCCC and I’m certain this is wrong. For my B which is business I got 30/30 for assignment and im sure I got above 80/90 in question paper so that doesn’t make any sense. For my C which is maths bio and English: maths my teacher created a marking scheme aftwr exam and I got 75% on it so I really don’t understand how I’ve dropped to a C. Same with English I was supposed to get around 80% and got a C. For biology I was 2nd highest in both prelims achieving high A and somehow ended up with a C after finding the exam great. I found all the exams great and I’ve been given grades that I’m certain are wrong. Now I will have to drop my advanced higher maths which is required for my desired course and appeals don’t get a result given back to pupils till October which is after I apply to uni. I can’t even get into my course or do my advanced highers now. I also heard that appeals don’t even remark anymore. Please could someone help.

Don’t blame you mate. Marking was sus as hell this year. For my French writing assignment, i somehow scored 6/20, when everything was technically accurate and neat. And for my classical studies exam, I got a B overall, when i got an A band 1 in the prelim. Highly, highly convinced that something was off with the marking.

Your teachers should have access to the marking breakdowns if you think the sections might have been added up wrong/ assigned the wrong grade for the mark
Hope this helps

Sorry to hear that, id suggest just sweating your way through S6, and hopefully get A’s

You should deffo still apply for top unis e.g Glasgow / edinburgh but be prepared for high conditionals and maybe having to do a summer school

Best of luck for this year!!!
