Hey,
Thank you for the great question,
As off currently UoP Women's football are not sure if there will be any play sessions this year however nothing has been set to say there will not be any play sessions... to keep up to date with this please keep your eye out on Instagram or the university of Portsmouth website under women's football so you do not miss out on any information that may be relevant to you.
for women's football Instagram if you type in upwfc - this will take you to their Instagram where you can meet the committee, learn information and even message them to find out how the best way to get involved is.
see this link to find out information on training times, memberships(play/competition) and any other information you may need to know

Women's Football | Sport | University of PortsmouthI have spoken to women's football committee for this year and they have said that if you are a complete beginner then your best way to start off would be Youtube videos e.g. dribbling and drills to learn the basics. At university of Portsmouth we encourage that within all sports teams that there will be no judgement and that they are completely welcoming to anyone of any ability and it will be a pleasure to have you, in which ever sport takes your fancy.
In terms of meeting new people and being engaged with upwfc we definitely recommend attending any socials that they may be hosting, whether this be their sober socials, or purple Wednesday's as they are a very socialable club and you will have loads of fun.
As of learning about the play sessions( if they are available) and the difference between play and competitive, i would definitely recommend you attend the sports fayre where you can learn about how the team works, meet the team and can even participate in activities they may be hosting that day. Along side this I would also recommend GIVE ME SPORTS, this way you can attend alongside other beginners and give it ago before committing to any memberships that way you can be certain that women's football is what you want to do sports wise in your second year 🙂
If you have any other questions please feel free to reply to this message and if you need any more information definitely head over to the University of Portsmouth website to find out any more information:
