Higher Art results 2024

Hi! Is it just me of has this years marking for higher art and design been so harsh? I was predicted an A and even got the highest mark in the school prelim wise and predictions etc but only received a B in the final- i know thats still good but its very annoying as i put so much effort into my folio and received As in the rest of my exams. I've not actually heard of a single person in Higher Art this year who has received an A and i'm so confused. I'm considering appealing but I'm pretty sure its a low B. Just wondering if its just me and my area. I also have an issue with the written exam, i failed the actual one when ive been getting full marks in class and in prelims so im not sure how thats happened??
thank youu

Maybe get it remarked? They might’ve messed up with the grade slightly.
I always think the written exam is hard what did you do for your expressive folio as SQA is notoriously known for marking down landscapes and portrait paintings

Hey, I want you to know you’re not alone because I am in the exact same position!
I was predicted an A and always got very high As in homework’s and the prelim. But when it came to the actual exam I barely passed and i was so confused. I put in so much time and effort even several all nighters into my portfolio and ended up with a low B (when last year I got a high A). I’m still grateful for the B but I was really hoping for an A to help with Uni applications. Its so frustrating because they don’t really tell us what they mark on and art is so subjective but I feel like they need to take more into account of how much work we have to do throughout the year.

I’ve put in an appeal and maybe you should it consider too, perhaps we both got a mean market lol!

Hi,
My daughter’s art group of 12 students have all been down graded with not one of them receiving the A that some were predicted. This is despite having experienced teachers who moderated across their trust. In some cases, up to 11 marks have been removed from their raw scores. My daughter is devastated!

They are asking for their whole group to be re- moderated. Something is definitely not right with the results.

Hi. It's not just you. I feel.its almost every art student. My son has gotten A's through out and was predicted an A in art. But got a C!. Contacted the school for a remark request, turns out he is off by ONE mark from a B. So we are appealing for this.
But this time the SQA has def marked very very harshly. They have supposedly gone back to the pre-covid harsh marking scheme. This one single C will ruin his chances at a good uni.
Good luck. Find out your mark. I'd you are 1-2 mark off, get a remark.

Hi. It's been horrendous for everyone this year. Extremely harsh marking. Find out your marks .
If an A is off by 1-2 marks, appeal for a remark.
Good luck

My kid is in the exact situation & lost uni. Always been A*, but lost A by 2 marks. by 1 marks in each components. We've requested for an appeal. How is your experience so far? We were told the teacher has indeed marked it for an A grade (grade boundaries changed again this yr) when they're not supposed to mark for the grade but for the actual work done. Art remarking or appeal is a mystery so far from what I've read online. In the name of being subjective, there is no transparency. We were persuaded not to appeal since the grades could go up or down. However, even the marks go down, the likelihood of it becoming C is slim. What can be done about this as appeal process is more like one-sided. Has anyone received higher marks in A level Arts appeal?
