Classics at Cambridge

Anyone looking to study Classics at cam for 2025 or just in general? Was wondering what made you choose Cambridge over Oxford and what you are doing in preparation, eg personal statement?

I’ll be applying to Cambridge for 2025 entry to study law! I chose Cambridge over Oxford mainly due to the course structure and the city itself. I’ve been to Cambridge once and I loved the city. The Oxford course is limited in terms of the amount of optional modules that you’re allowed to take. I also have weak GCSEs (with severe extenuating circumstances) and Cambridge tend to be more forgiving when it comes to GCSEs. Cambridge also has a high interview rate and I feel like having the opportunity to demonstrate my capabilities in the interview would strengthen my overall application. In terms of preparation, mainly I’m focusing on my admissions test at the moment. I’ve also been catching up with reading and doing summer work to hopefully boost my predicted grades. I’m already predicted the required grades, but I feel like I’m capable of more and want to prove that to my teachers (it also will strengthen my Bristol application). I’m currently waiting on personal statement feedback from my teacher, but I’ll likely start editing again in September. What made you choose classics out of interest? Hope your applications go well - wishing you the best of luck
