Beloved for English Lit NEA

I am thinking about whether I could do my NEA for English Lit (AQA A) on Beloved by Toni Morrison but I need to find a pre-1900 text to compare it with. Does anyone have any suggestions, please?

For prose , my school does beloved and the picture of dorian gray as comparative texts , have a look into it . I have resources which i dont mind sending in .
