[Golden Thread] If you could time travel, which year would you visit and why?

This is a Golden Thread. Join in with the discussion before 29th August (tbc) to be in with a chance of winning a £50 Amazon Voucher

Let's say you had a time machine. It can go to any year, in the past or in the future, where humans are on the Earth.

Everyone is allowed one ride in the machine to a particular year of their choice. When you want to come back, you can, and you can spend anything up to the full year. So that the singularity doesn't break, you're immortal but you can come to non-fatal harm.

Which year would you pick to visit and why?

Golden Threads 2024

Each Golden Thread you make a post in counts as an entry into the competition and on 29th August (tbc) we'll be randomly picking a winner. Remember, posting multiple times in one thread counts as a single entry, but posting in multiple threads gives you multiple entries!

The more golden threads you post in, the more chance you have of winning!

Assuming I can actually affect things, I would choose 2019 so I could warn people about Covid
I would visit 22nd August 2024 so I can find out my GCSE results.
I am a bit fascinated by the 90s so I'd choose to go back to 1997 and live through the year of my birth as an adult. Also experience Tony Blair winning that election.
Some time in BC that way I could tell whether Jesus Christ was/is real or not.
I would want to go to the future to just after I die so I can see what I've actually achieved in my life and see what people think of me

Like Scrooge.
Won't you be sad?
I would time travel back to early July 2019 before covid so I can do myself better with school because it went pretty downhill afterwards lol but all good now

Early 1600s/late 1590s Milan. I reckon I'd have got on with Caravaggio and I'd like to have met him.

Or 15th Century Renaissance Florence, for pretty obvious reasons.
Either 1500s England to visit my ancestors.
Or Ancient Rome because it was a great era.
Or 1982 England to see my dad as a kid.
Or 1966 England as I love the era.
Or 1957 USA. Idk why but I always see that pic of Elizabeth Ann Eckford and wish I was there walking with her.

1889 and murder Hitler as a baby.

Honestly, I’d be curious to see where life is at 2050. I haven’t been alive so long but think of the changes between 2000 and 2024. Life moves on quick.

PRSOM (even though I rapped you) that’s a good idea. I could attend my funeral!

would go back to my first year in uni (2019) so that i could tell myself to avoid the friend group that completely nuked in second year 💀 would also tell myself to get it together way sooner. took me three years to figure out that double spaced does NOT mean pressing the space bar twice
