Uni of Manchester accommodation

hi! i will be joining the university of manchester in september and im currently trying to finalize my list of 5 accommodations. I have already applied and this is my current list:
1. unsworth
2. richmond park
3. sheavyn house
4. daisy bank
5. burkhardt house

i am happy with the first three and won’t change them - the problem is with the last two. I want to be in fallowfield, of course, because its the most sociable, however i don’t like the other fallowfield options enough to have all 5 there.

- i had oak house in my list at some point, but id thought i couldn't deal with the conditions (rats etc.) and especially how small the rooms are. i was willing to share a bathroom though just to be in fallowfield. must i add it back on my list, is it worth it?

- i want to remove daisy bank and put rusholme place or brook house instead. which is better out of the two, and why?

- finally, the reason burkhardt is on there is because there are 8-10 flatmates and i believe with more people i stand a greater change at making good friends and finding like- minded people. there are also 100 rooms so i thought the probability of me getting that was pretty low. should i keep it or also put rusholme or brook instead of it?

thanks in advance!!

Hey,
I applied this year too
I'd recommend steering clear of oak house. It has a very poor reputation and the people I know who've gotten it aren't very happy to get there. Also I've heard its non-stop parties which might get to be too much after a while.
I don't know too much about rusholme and Brooke but between them, I'd say Rusholme because I've talked to someone who's been there for a year and she seems very happy with it. Although, the area around might be a bit dodgy. Brooke is also nice from what I've seen but you only have around 3-4 flatmates, which I guess you wouldn't prefer so it might be a bit less social, you do get a double bed though I think. Both are in vc though so they'll probably be less social in general.
Burkhardt is nice, Hulme hall is nearby, you can go to their bar and its probably easier to socialize than in other halls in vc, so you might want to keep it in the list but up to you.
Hope this helps xx

I'd also recommend that you read the reviews of these halls on google, watch a few youtube vids and also talk to current uom students on Unibuddy. They'll be able to give you a more informed opinion about which halls are better.

hi, thank u so much for your reply  i think i’ve watched every video about this that exists and i’m sadly still unsure
about burkhardt, yes, you’re right about the socializing i think it’d be much easier. i was wondering which halls did you put when you were applying?

Hey, no worries
I get it, you're always going to be a bit unsure. Like I said, the best way to get some reassurance would be to talk to current UoM students on Unibuddy.
I applied to- Unsworth Park, Denmark Road, Richmond Park, Sheavyn House and Ashburn Hall

Regardless accom, there willl be rats which goes for both rusholme and brook since one is near a market and the other is right my curry mile.

With oakhouse, actually alot of the ppl ive met really like it there, espcially for freshers because apparently the funnest ppl stay around that area including other fallow accomodations. Ive been into one myself and honeslty, the toilet is alot cleaner than the ensuite ones ive vistsed in weston and unsworth so it rlly just depends on your flatmates and your effort to keep the place clean. The room were small but w fairy lights and stuff icl it was kinda cozy \

hope this helps. I personally stayed at hulme and liked it cause it was catered and j quiet so if you have any intentions to swap to oakhouse, please also lmk as i'm trying to swap to an accom in victoria for second year (F, UDG tho)
