Email during embargo period

Hi everyone, I’ve got an email from my insurance university, Birmingham, today despite it being the embargo period. It just says as an offer holder they wanted to update me about changes to teaching for 2025, and said it hopes to welcome me. Does this mean that I’ve not got into my firm but I have got into my insurance? Are they breaching rules? Has anyone else got this?

this isn't currently an embargo period

The embargo period for A levels starts at 2pm on Friday universities don't have your results yet

Hello :hi:

Ooh interesting. With the way this is worded, I am not sure this technically breaches the embargo. It says they "hope" to welcome you, doesn't say they will. But the wording is ambiguous. However, as PQ says above they don't actually have your results yet - so they can't know that you're definitely coming there.

They aren't quite breaching the rules - but this wording is rather cheeky of them!

Hope this hasn't panicked you too much :hugs:

What exactly did they say is changing about teaching? just being nosy

Thank you for responding so quickly. Thanks for clarification of what embargo is, I just panicked because a previous email said that that one would be the last one before results day!
Maybe as it’s about teaching etc they felt it was urgent. They’ve said less lecture hours based on feedback from students so allow for more independent study. They’ve said this gives them time for like an academic check in in the middle of each semester. It might be true but I reckon they’re making cuts based on the Chancellor and the education Secretary’s response to tuition fee drama

Thank you so much for replying so quickly. Yeah it’s panicked me a lot I can’t pretend… but thanks to the responses from here I’m not panicking anymore because I now know they don’t actually have my grades. I agree it’s very cheeky wording! 🧀
